The K-pop craze that’s taking the world by storm was also manifest on the largest video portal site in the world, Youtube.
On December 21st, Youtube reported the top 10 most-watched music videos by domestic citizens in Korea (not including overseas views) since January 1st, 2011.
According to the report, the #1 most-watched K-pop music video in Korea for 2011 was Wonder Girls‘ and their hit track, “Be My Baby“.
HyunA‘s solo single “Bubble Pop” came in at #2, while SNSD‘s “The Boys” came in at #3, holding a record for immediately receiving 400,000 views upon release. Read the rest of this entry
All eyes and ears are focused on the ‘2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)’ that is scheduled to take place at the Indoor Stadium in Singapore on the 29th.
More than 2,240,000 votes came in this year through MAMA’s official homepage (http://www.2011mama.com), which is more than 10 times the number of votes that came in last year.
19% of the votes were from Korean fans, 11.2% of voters were Thai, 10.8% were Chinese, 8.6% were Japanese, and 2.4% of the votes came from Singapore. In total, more than 80% of all the votes were from oversea fans, which is 13% more compared to last year. Read the rest of this entry
A few days ago female group 2NE1 released a preview of their first Japanese single, “Go Away” with the covers and tracklist.

2NE1 is preparing to rock Japan with their first Japanese single, “Go Away“, and we’ve got the preview for their PV!
(Instead of using the term ‘music video’, or ‘MV’, the Japanese music industry uses ‘promotional video’ or ‘PV’).
Scheduled to hit shelves on November 16th, “Go Away” will come in three versions: two CD+DVDS (‘Type A’ and ‘Type B’) as well as ‘CD-Only’. ‘Type A’ will hold the music video for “Go Away” as well as its making-of clip, while ‘Type B’ will include an episode of ’2NE1 TV’ as well as highlights from the YGEX press conference. On the October 19th broadcast of MBC‘s ‘Radio Star‘, the MCs treaded some daring waters by asking KARA what they thought was the reasons behind their success in Japan.
The MCs bluntly asked, “We heard that KARA is more popular than both SNSD and 2NE1 in Japan, why do you think that is?”

Although she created her Twitter account back in June of last year, it wasn’t until today that 2ne1‘s Park Bom showed her intent to actively use the popular social media platform. Bom changed her twitter profile to state, “Hi~~~^^ I’m starting my tweets~~*^^*2NE1 BoM☻”
Late last night, Bom tweeted greetings to Viva‘s Han Young, one of 2ne1′s former stylist. However, she immediately deleted the tweet.
